I'm looking to pair a CPU with my 5070 Ti for gaming, particularly for 4K 120Hz play on a 65" LG C4 OLED. I've been considering the 9600X, but I've heard some complaints about stuttering in games like Fortnite and Marvel Rivals. Is there a reason that configuration could lead to issues? If not the 9600X, what would you recommend as a better option? I focus on controller games only and want to avoid city builders.

If you're serious about gaming, I'd recommend considering at least the 7800X3D or a higher model. You’ll want the power for 4K resolution gaming, as it can be quite demanding.
Realistically, the 9600X should suffice for a 5070 Ti. Stuttering can happen randomly in some games, and devs often struggle with optimizing on Unreal Engine 5. I have a 7800X3D and still see some occasional hitches in those titles.
Just a heads up, it's nearly impossible to completely eliminate performance inconsistencies in gaming. For 2160p, even a 7600X to 7800X3D shows minor differences. However, more L3 cache in the 7800X3D means it's less dependent on RAM, and you'll likely see improved 1% performance in gaming.
Definitely go for the 7800X3D if you can swing it. It's been recommended by quite a few, and for 4K gaming, it really shines.
I just set mine up with a 9800X3D, and the experience has been buttery smooth! The 7800X3D is indeed better, but if you're okay with a bit of extra cost for that performance jump, it’s worth it.
I find it hard to believe the 9600X would stutter in those games! It might actually be a network issue since both are online. Plus, at 4K, the CPU impact is less noticeable. You might want to look at some reviews; for instance, the 1% lows on the 9600X are only about 3% behind the 9800X3D. So, if you want an upgrade, the 7800X3D is fantastic for gaming.
