Hey all! I'm seeking some advice about my RAM, motherboard, and CPU setup. I have a G.Skill F4-3600C16Q-64GTZR RAM kit, which totals 64GB (4x16GB DDR4-3600 CL16), and it features Samsung ICs. Currently, I'm using an i5-11400 processor paired with a Gigabyte B560M DS3H V2 motherboard, and I'm having a tough time getting my RAM to work properly even at 3200 MHz. The best I've managed is 2933 MHz, which isn't ideal. I'm thinking of switching to the Z490 AORUS ELITE motherboard since it lists my RAM kit as compatible for 3600 XMP in 4-DIMM configuration, which sounds promising compared to my current set up. So here's my question: Would it make sense to keep the i5-11400 with the Z490 AORUS ELITE, or is it better to upgrade to a 10th gen CPU like the i7-10700K or the i7-11700K for better memory performance? Essentially, what will give me the best chance of achieving at least 3200 MHz stable and ideally 3600 MHz stable with my RAM kit? I'm particularly interested in hearing from those who have experience with 4x16GB dual-rank DDR4 kits or Z490 AORUS boards, as well as any insights on memory behavior differences between the 10700K and 11700K. Any real-world experience would be awesome, thanks!

It sounds like you're on the right track! Both your current CPU and motherboard aren’t optimized for 3600 MHz, so switching to the Z490 AORUS ELITE is a smart move. I'd recommend going with the i7-10700K as it should give you a solid combination without too much additional cost. It’s known for better memory stability, especially in a 4-DIMM configuration like yours.
Totally agree with the advice on the i7-10700K. It's a great match for the Z490 boards and has good compatibility with your 4x16GB RAM kit. Plus, since Z490 is designed around Comet Lake, you’ll likely have a smoother experience. With this setup, it’s definitely feasible to achieve stable speeds at 3200 MHz and possibly reach 3600 MHz as well!
