Best CPU Upgrade for GTX 3070?

I'm looking to upgrade my CPU to better match my GTX 3070 as I'm experiencing some micro lag and stuttering during gameplay, with my CPU frequently maxing out. I mostly play games like Red Dead Redemption 2, Le Mans Ultimate, Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora, and some VR titles. My current specs include a GTX 3070, Ryzen 5 3500X, 16GB RAM, a B550 Elite V2 motherboard, and an 850W Corsair PSU, primarily at 1440p. I'm considering the Ryzen 5 5700X but want to focus on getting the best price-to-performance ratio. I've heard the Ryzen 5 5600 is also a good option. Any advice?

The Ryzen 5 5600, 5600X, and 5700X are all solid choices for pairing with your 3070. If you want maximum performance from your current setup, the 5800X could be worth considering as well, though it might be a bit pricier. If you're looking for value, check the prices where you live; sometimes the 5800X isn't too far off.

I had a 3070 with the Ryzen 5 5600X and it performed great—no major bottlenecking at 1440p 75Hz with 3600 CL16 RAM. The only downside was limited VRAM, but with your setup, that shouldn't be a huge issue. Just make sure your RAM isn't running too slow; anything below 3200MHz can hold you back, but yours seems fine.

Glad to hear about your setup! So it sounds like the 5600X could be a solid option. Would you say it's the best for price-to-performance compared to the others?
