I'm looking to upgrade my CPU from the 2700X but want to stick with the AM4 socket for now. I play CPU-heavy esports games like Valorant and have plans to start streaming and doing some light video editing. I currently have a GTX 3070, and I'm considering options like the 5600X, 5700X, or 5800X. Any recommendations for the best CPU upgrade that will fit my needs?

Any of the Ryzen 5000 series CPUs will work great for you, but I’d steer clear of the 5500 and 5700 models, as they don’t perform as well overall. If you plan to do some video editing, I’d suggest opting for the 8-core CPUs, like the 5800X, as they'll give you much better performance in those tasks.
But what makes the 5700 not a good choice? I'm curious!
The 5700X is a solid pick! It has a low thermal design power, which keeps it cool. Depending on your monitor's resolution, it’s a great match with your setup for gaming in 4K. I’ve been using it with a 9070XT, and it runs smoothly.
If you're looking for the sweet spot, consider a used 5900X! It's not much more than the 5700X or 5800X, but you'll get extra cores and threads that will boost your productivity without overheating issues like the 5950X might.
How much did you pay for yours? I'm on a budget.
That's a good idea! I’ll keep an eye out for deals.
If you’re moving from a 3xxx series chip, don’t forget to check if you need to update your BIOS. Most 5000 series CPUs require this to work with older motherboards, although some high-end boards can update right from the BIOS or with a special USB port.
Given your intent to stream and edit, the 5700X is the way to go over the 5600X. More cores will help a lot with multitasking and processing workloads.

Thanks for the tip! I definitely want something that can handle streaming as well!
