I'm looking for some advice on upgrading my CPU without breaking the bank. I recently upgraded my GPU but now I'm encountering a CPU bottleneck. My motherboard is pretty old, and I'm trying to stick to a budget of $250. Here's my current setup:

- CPU: Ryzen 5 3600
- GPU: Radeon 9060 XT 16GB
- Motherboard: B450 Tomahawk MAX
- RAM: 16GB DDR4 @ 3200
- Storage: 2TB M.2 SSD
- Power Supply: 550 Watt from Microcenter

I've heard recommendations for processors like the 7600X, 9600X, R5 7600, and 5700X3D. What CPU would you suggest for my setup?

If you're looking to upgrade on a budget, the 5600X is a solid choice since it’s pretty much the go-to upgrade for a lot of setups. However, if you want a little more performance, you might consider the 5800X; it's still reasonably priced and performs really well with your GPU setup.

You can find a 5800X for around $199 on sites like Amazon or Newegg (they're even throwing in a free mouse there!). Make sure your motherboard's BIOS is updated first to prevent compatibility issues.

I recently updated the BIOS hoping to fix the bottleneck situation. Just want to make sure I'm headed in the right direction!

Just a heads up, the 7600 or 9600X won't fit your budget because you'd need a new motherboard and RAM, which could add up beyond $250. I'd recommend sticking with options like the 5600, 5600X, or 5700X—updating your motherboard BIOS will help facilitate the upgrade too.
