Hey everyone, I'm looking to upgrade the RAM on my Z87-PRO motherboard, which currently has 8GB (2 x 4GB). The motherboard can support a maximum of 32GB, and I found some options at CEX that are cheaper than eBay and come with good returns and warranty. I understand that all DDR3 sticks are somewhat similar, but I'd like to know how to choose the best one. Is it true that higher MHz is better, or are there other factors I should consider?

Generally, you'll want RAM with higher GHz for better performance, but make sure to pay attention to the CAS latency (CL) as well. It's true that the RAM will operate at the speed of the slowest stick in your setup, so if you mix different speeds, it won't help you much. Your use case sounds solid—upgrading to 32GB could really help with graphic design and music production, especially if you're running multiple applications at once.

Thanks for the info! I'm not having any major issues; I just have some extra cash and noticed my games occasionally lag at 8GB. Upgrading to 32GB sounds like a smart move for my work and play!
