I'm looking for advice on which dock to purchase for my dual monitor setup. I recently got a second monitor, but I've noticed that many docks only support display mirroring on Macs, allowing for connections like A + B + B, rather than A + B + C. I have two laptops: an M1 MacBook Pro and a MacBook Air from 2019. The M1 has display link capability, so I'm hoping to use that. I'd like to keep my budget under £50. Will I need different setups for both laptops? I plan to use the MacBook Pro with dual screens more frequently. I'm feeling a bit overwhelmed with options, so any help would be greatly appreciated!

Just a heads up: Make sure to check if your M1 is an M1 Pro or M1 Max. If it's the standard M1, the chip limitations might restrict you to only two displays. There might be some software workaround, but it's a bit tricky.
If you don't mind using a separate power cable and needing some adapters, old Lenovo USB ThinkPad docks can often be found for around $20 on eBay. Not sure about availability or prices elsewhere, but even considering the adapters, you should definitely stay under your £50 budget!
Thanks for the tip! I'll check those out!

I think it’s an Apple M1 Pro. Does that mean I can support more than two displays?
