Hey everyone! I'm looking for some advice on setting up my kids' first computer and maybe a little something for myself too. It's been quite a while since I last built a PC - my last one had an Intel Pentium 4! Now, I'm out of the loop because I've been a Mac user since then. We're mainly aiming for a gaming setup, and I'd imagine anything within my budget should be able to handle Fortnite above 60 FPS without issues.
The kids chose a case that supports ATX, mATX, and ITX, which will cost around 100€. This leaves me about 700€ for everything else. I'm leaning towards an AM5 motherboard for future upgrades. I've been eyeing the Ryzen 5 7500F alongside an RTX 4060, which totals about 460€.
I've noticed some boards seem to lack Wi-Fi, but I'm fine with adding a card or using a dongle if needed. Just wondering if motherboards typically have PCI ports for that? I keep encountering different types like B650 or A620, and it's a bit confusing with all the variations. Also, is it worth investing in a 2TB NVMe versus a combination of a 1TB NVMe and a 1TB 2.5" SSD? Lastly, I'm not looking for used parts since I'm not experienced with that. Any advice would be wildly appreciated!

For your GPU choice, the RTX 4060 is solid, but you might want to look at the Intel Arc B580. It's priced around $310 and could give you a competitive alternative. If you can find an RX 6700 XT locally, that could also be a great option! As for the motherboard, I’d suggest going with a B650 because it allows for upgrades to more powerful CPUs down the line, while the A620 will limit you to lower wattage CPUs. Also, a single 2TB NVMe would probably be cheaper and faster than getting a combination of drives. SSDs are really fast and don't have the lag issues traditional HDDs do, making them perfect for gaming and general use.
Exactly! A single NVMe drive makes everything simpler and speeds things up.
