Best Free Email Providers for New Businesses?

I'm setting up a new business and currently have two Gmail accounts (one for personal use and another as a throwaway). I've heard good things about ProtonMail, especially for privacy, but I want to avoid getting a third Gmail account. Ideally, I want to have an email tied to a domain name that's recognizable to my potential clients. While it's not crucial, it's a bonus. Additionally, I'm looking for something that's either free or low-cost since I don't want to spend over $40 a month on email. Just for context, I work with Outlook at my day job, so I'm familiar with that layout, and I mainly use Apple devices at home.

If you have iCloud+, you can host your custom domain email for free. Just snag a domain from a registrar like namecheap.com and you're all set! Apple does make it easier if you get a domain directly from them, but for future flexibility, consider sticking with a standard registrar.

My family has a shared iCloud+ account - this seems like something I could use!

Honestly, if you're starting a business, it's worth investing in IT services as a part of your expenses. Using your own domain name looks way more professional. Check out Google Workspace or Microsoft 365, they’re reasonably priced and offer great support. You might want to do some research on that!

Not the question I asked, but it is the answer I need.

If your business has a website, you should use your domain registrar’s email service. It creates a more cohesive branding! Like your email could be something like [email protected]. Plus, you can link it with Outlook to manage everything in one place.

Owning your own domain can be pretty cheap—like $10.44 a year—definitely the professional way to go!

What company or companies are selling domain names at that price?

AOL email might sound outdated, but using it shows you’ve been around since the 80s, and that could work for some businesses!

I had an AOL email address in third grade as a family email address. 😛
