Hey everyone! I just upgraded my CPU to a Ryzen 5 5600X and I'm now in the market for a GPU that gives me the best performance for the money. Here are my current specs:
- CPU: Ryzen 5 5600X
- Motherboard: B450 Gaming X
- RAM: 16GB
- PSU: 650W
I primarily play casual games, focusing on titles like Arc Raiders and Battlefield 6, on a 1440p 144Hz monitor. My main goal is to maximize FPS rather than aiming for ultra-quality settings.
Right now, I'm considering a couple of options:
- RX 9060 XT (16GB) for $550. Is this overkill?
- Used RTX 3070 (8GB) for $320.
However, I'm worried about the VRAM since 8GB might not be sufficient for 1440p gaming, especially with newer titles coming out. Is the extra $230 for the 16GB card worth it for future-proofing, or should I find a middle ground? Thanks for any advice!

If you're gaming at 1440p, going for a card with 8GB of VRAM might not be the best move nowadays. The RX 9060 XT with 16GB sounds like a solid choice.
The 9060 XT is definitely your best bet, but if you find a Radeon 9070 (non-XT) at a good price, that would be awesome too. I'm running a 5600X with a 9070 for my 1440p setup, and it performs really well.
I used to have a 2600 with an RX 580. I recently upgraded to a 6800 XT and got a 5600X after. I still have the 2600 with a 3050 in another build, and honestly, it does great at 1080p!
The 9060 XT won’t be overkill for your setup. I’ve got a 5700X paired with a 9070 XT, and it does great for 1440p. Your 5600X should handle the 9060 XT nicely!
If you can swing the RX 9060 XT for $550, I say go for it. Also, keep an eye out for the RTX 5060 Ti if it's close in price—it could be a good alternative.
Thanks for all the input! I think I’m leaning towards the 9060.

Totally agree with you!
