Best GPU Options for 1080p Gaming Under $600

I'm planning to upgrade my GPU because my old 1080 Ti has been struggling after 8 years. I currently get decent performance (120+ fps) in most games, but I recently upgraded my CPU to an i9-14900k for my engineering software, and now I feel like my GPU is holding me back. I'm looking for a GPU that can run competitive games at around 240 fps at 1080p, but I want to keep it under $600. Would a 5070 be a good choice?

I'd suggest the RTX 5060 Ti with 16GB. It's a solid choice for 1080p gaming and should handle most competitive games nicely.

The 60 series cards are targeted more at 1080p gaming, but make sure it has at least 16GB of VRAM. If you want to future-proof your system and push higher settings or frames at 1080p, consider the newer 70 or 80 series cards. You'll benefit more in the long run with those, especially if you're eyeing an upgrade for 2K or 4K down the line.

You really don't need to spend that much on a GPU for 1080p gaming. There are plenty of options that could run well without breaking the bank. If you're worried about future-proofing, I get it, but the market is really tricky right now.

That's a fair point, but I'm also leaning towards waiting for the next-gen GPUs. It might be smarter long-term.

Honestly, I’d recommend waiting a bit. Nvidia's 50 series has been hit with a lot of driver issues lately. If you can, hold off until they iron these problems out or until AMD releases their 9060 XT.
