I'm looking to pair a powerful GPU with my 9800X3D processor. I plan to play older games, specifically titles released before 2017, and I'd love to hit 120 FPS or more at native 1440p Ultra settings. My budget is around $400, although I'm willing to stretch up to $600 if needed. Any recommendations?

For emulation and older titles, you’ve got a lot of options. Even a 6600XT would work well with your setup since your processor is pretty strong. It's hard to go wrong with that combo!
If you're going with the 9800X3D, I highly recommend the 9070XT or the 5070Ti. They’ll pair nicely with that CPU and should deliver great performance for your gaming needs.
I'm using a 6900XT and it plays everything excellently. You might want to consider it if you're looking for something that can handle a wider range of games beyond just the older titles.
Is the 9800X3D overkill for these games? I’ve heard the extra L3 cache can really boost performance.
