I'm looking to repurpose my old Dell e6440 laptop, which is from around 2014, solely for watching DVDs. Can anyone recommend a lightweight Linux distribution that can handle this task without the hassle of searching for additional drivers? I just want to keep it simple and focused on movie playback.

I think pretty much any distro would do for playing DVDs, but if you're looking for simplicity, Linux Mint is a great choice! It's user-friendly and has a lot of community support.

Thanks! I went with Mint, and it works pretty well. Just a heads up for others; I had to search online for some extra steps to install the necessary codecs to decrypt the DVDs, so make sure to look that up.

You might want to check out Geexbox. It's an older distro but super lightweight and specifically designed for media playback. Definitely worth a shot!

MX Linux or Debian-based systems like Linux Mint are solid options. Just remember to install the required packages for DVD playback, and you should be all set!
