Hey everyone! I recently got my hands on an old MacBook Air from 2011, and I'm brand new to the world of Linux. I've been hearing that Linux Mint with the Cinnamon desktop is a solid choice for my aging laptop, but I've come across a lot of conflicting information while researching. Can anyone help me decide what's the best distribution for some light web browsing?

I suggest looking up your model on the linux_on_mac subreddit. There should be plenty of users who have shared their experiences. It could save you some time and effort if you see what others have tried. Good luck and let us know how it goes!
If you're looking for other options beyond Mint, you could try Zorin or MX Linux. For a more Mac-like experience, Elementary OS is also worth considering.
Linux Mint is a great choice! Just to clarify, Linux Mint is the distribution while Cinnamon is the desktop environment it uses. It’s really user-friendly, especially for those coming from Windows, so I’d definitely recommend giving it a shot!
You might want to check out the distro selection page on our wiki. It has a lot of helpful info for new users. Also, make sure to take regular backups and try things out in a virtual machine before diving in! That way, you can get comfortable without the risk of messing up your system.

Thanks for the advice! I'll definitely check out the wiki.
