Hey folks! I have an old Noblex tablet currently running Windows 10, but it's really slow. I'm looking to install a Linux distro on it and would love your recommendations. Here are the specs:
- CPU: Intel Atom Z3735F 1.33GHz (32-bit)
- RAM: 2GB
- Storage: 32GB
I'm not sure if the touchscreen will function properly or if any distros are better suited for this kind of device. Any insights would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

The Intel Atom Z3735F is actually a 64-bit processor, even though it shipped with a 32-bit version of Windows. If you're just looking for something light and responsive, you could consider trying a live USB first. I recommend looking into lightweight distros like MX Linux or AntiX. Just keep in mind that with only 2GB of RAM, it might be a bit sluggish with modern applications, but it should handle older games or emulators quite well. Batocera even includes touchscreen support, but I'm not sure if yours will work. Good luck!
You’re right about the limitations of a 32-bit setup. Just a heads up, the number of workable 32-bit distros is shrinking. MXLinux and Debian still support it, but modern distributions are moving away from that architecture. If you want a great experience, I'd suggest looking into lightweight options as well. Just remember that storage can be a pain on tablets, so installation could be tricky.
I’d suggest checking out Devuan or MiniOS. They’re pretty light and have been working well on older hardware. And if you’re into customization, Q4OS might be worth checking out too! Just some options to consider while you're exploring.
Thanks for the suggestions! I’ll definitely give those a try.
Totally agree! I tried installing a different distro on my tablet, and the storage out of the box just didn't play nice. Just be cautious and maybe create a backup.
