I'm looking to dive into gaming on Linux and want to try out a distro that's suitable for this purpose. I primarily play games on Steam like Arc Raiders, AC, and CS2. My current setup includes an R5 7600 and an RTX 5070, but I have very little experience with Linux—I've only used Ubuntu in the past. I'm considering options like Pop OS and CachyOS, but I'm open to suggestions for distros that are easier to set up. Starting with Linux Mint is probably your best bet. You can easily install Steam, Heroic, Wine, and Lutris from there. Just read some guides as you go. It’s generally straightforward, plus you can still game smoothly. If you run into any flickering horizontal lines, switching to a different nVidia driver usually fixes it. I found Pop OS a bit buggy myself, and CachyOS might be tough for a beginner.
