I'm diving into x86 assembly programming for fun and I'm on the lookout for a Linux distribution that would suit my needs. I've decided I don't want to use Ubuntu. Any recommendations?

Honestly, any maintained distro can handle assembly programming. There isn't a single "perfect" option; it's all about what works best for you. Some people love Arch with KDE, while others swear by Debian or NixOS with a custom setup.

If you're open to exploring, how about giving FreeBSD a shot? It's got a solid reputation and plenty of resources to help you out.

Any distro should do fine for assembly coding. What features are you looking for that you think would make a distro 'perfect' for you?

It really comes down to what you feel comfortable with. If you're new to Linux, I'd suggest starting with something user-friendly like Mint or Zorin.
