I'm trying to find a Linux distribution for my mom, who isn't very technical. She has an older HP laptop with an AMD A10 CPU and a dedicated AMD GPU. Currently, she's running Windows 10 and uses some specific software like Foxit Reader for PDFs, LibreOffice for documents, Google Chrome for browsing, NAPS2 for scanning, and she plays Microsoft Solitaire as well. She used to be familiar with Ubuntu and Mint over a decade ago, so I'm considering those options again. If anyone has suggestions for user-friendly distros that would suit her needs, I'd love to hear them!

If you're looking for something less conventional, try Q4OS Plasma. It’s user-friendly and has a small app shop where she can find what she needs easily.
I’d recommend sticking with Mint. I put it on my mom's laptop and she finds it really easy to use. Plus, Cinnamon is more intuitive for non-tech people compared to Gnome.
Be careful about the age of the hardware though. Depending on how old her laptop is, it might be pushing its limits. But if it has DDR4 RAM, it should still be decent enough.
Definitely go with either Mint or Kubuntu. They have interfaces that are similar to Windows, making the transition smoother for users who aren’t tech-savvy.
Honestly, any distro could work for her! But if she's already familiar with Ubuntu and Mint, there's really no need to switch. I personally prefer Mint because it’s very user-friendly.
