Best Linux Distros and Headsets for VR Gaming?

I'm switching gears and thinking about trying VR gaming on Linux. I'm torn between sticking with Linux Mint, which I've used before, or going for Bazzite. I own an Oculus Rift S and I'm curious if it'll work with either of these distros, or if there are better headset options out there. Additionally, if VR gaming on Linux isn't feasible, will the NoVR mod for Half-Life Alyx still function?

For VR, you want a headset that's fully compatible with SteamVR, like the Vive or Index models. While you can get Oculus headsets working, it tends to be a bit more complicated. Since you've already invested in the Rift S, I say give it a shot; just be prepared for potential workarounds since it's a bit hit-or-miss on Linux! It's pricey to experiment with headsets, so worth trying with what you have!

It's true, the Vive needs its own setup like the Rift S. I heard that some environments like Cinnamon might not play nice with SteamVR compared to KDE, so that could be something to keep in mind!
