Best Methods for Deploying MongoDB on Kubernetes?

I'm looking to deploy MongoDB on Kubernetes but can't use Bitnami right now due to issues with their images. I've found two potential options: the Percona MongoDB Operator and the MongoDB Community Operator. Has anyone had experience deploying with these or any other alternatives? I'd love to hear your thoughts and suggestions based on your experiences!

We generally prefer first-party solutions. We switched to the Community Operator recently, and while the docs can be a bit lacking, it’s working really well so far. Just keep an eye on the various CRD objects; some are only for the licensed 'kind: MongoDB' type, which caught us off guard initially.

I've had good success with the Percona MongoDB Operator. It gives you more freedom and lower costs since you aren’t tied to Atlas' pricing. Plus, it offers great tools for monitoring and backups, which translates to more control.

You should clarify what type of MongoDB setup you need. If it's just a replica set, I'd recommend either the Percona or the Community Operator. For sharded clusters, though, you might need to choose Percona or the MongoDB Enterprise version unless you're willing to build your own operator.

Good point! I was trying to figure out the best path for scaling too. Do you think the Percona operator handles scaling well?
