I'm looking to upgrade my CPU to the Ryzen 7800X3D, but my existing motherboard isn't compatible. I understand that this new CPU will require a new motherboard, likely one that uses DDR5 RAM. However, DDR5 prices are pretty high right now, so I'm curious if there are any motherboards compatible with the 7800X3D that still support DDR4 RAM instead.

Unfortunately, the Ryzen 7000 series, including the 7800X3D, only works with DDR5 RAM. There are no AM5 motherboards that support DDR4. You might want to consider sticking with an AMD 5000 series or maybe an Intel 12th or 13th gen CPU if you want to keep using DDR4.
If you're set on the 7800X3D, there isn't much choice—stick with DDR5. If budget constraints are an issue though, transitioning to an older generation like the Ryzen 5000 series could provide a solution. Just a thought!
Just to clarify, the 7800X3D requires an AM5 motherboard which exclusively supports DDR5. If you are looking to maintain DDR4, you would need to consider going with an AM4 CPU instead, like the Ryzen 5 7600 or Ryzen 7 5800, both of which are available and compatible with DDR4.

That’s correct! Trying to mix DDR4 with a 7000 series isn’t feasible, so adjusting your upgrade path is the best way to go.
