Hey everyone! I'm looking to upgrade my PC after four years, and I've just purchased the Ryzen 7 7800X3D. I initially got the PG Lightning B650 because I've heard good things about its power delivery. However, I'm now wondering if I should invest in a pricier motherboard for better safety and performance. I'm struggling to find a solid ATX board specifically for the 7800X3D, as there are mixed opinions online about various brands like Asus, MSI, and ASrock. My budget is around $300, and I'm located in Poland. Any suggestions?

You don't need to overthink it too much. The 7800X3D only draws about 100W, so you won't require an overly robust motherboard to handle it. The power delivery of most decent ATX boards should be more than enough for that CPU.
If you're looking at the Tomahawk, just compare features. The main difference with the PG Lightning might be in things like Wi-Fi or Bluetooth, and those aren’t deal-breakers if you're fine with using Ethernet.
I've had good experiences with MSI boards over the years. Right now, I'm using a B650 Tomahawk with my 7800X3D and everything runs great. If you're considering a B850, I found that it boots faster compared to the B650, which can be a plus. Just keep in mind that the B650 is a solid choice, especially for the price.
What do you think makes the Tomahawk boards better than the PG Lightning?
