Best Open Source Software for Remote Device Management?

I'm frequently asked by family and friends to check on their computers, which can be a real hassle when I'm doing it from a distance. I'm looking for some reliable open-source or free software that allows me to monitor and manage their devices remotely. Ideally, I'd like to install something on their PCs or laptops so that when issues come up, I can connect via RDP or SSH to resolve them. I want to avoid exposing their devices to the internet, but I'm okay with setting up a machine that has a public IP for this purpose.

Have you tried Chrome Remote Desktop? It’s a simple solution.

You might want to consider RustDesk if you're looking for something a bit more feature-rich than Tactical RMM.

Action1 could also meet your needs for remote management.

You should check out Tactical RMM. It's free, open-source, and does a great job of handling remote patching and monitoring for Windows systems. The setup is pretty straightforward if you run it on a small VM, so no need to make things complicated.
