I'm looking to upgrade my processor to boost my computer's processing speed. Here are my current specs:
- PSU: Seasonic S12III-650 (650W 80 Plus Bronze)
- Motherboard: MSI PRO B660M-A DDR4
- Current CPU: i5-12400F (12th gen)
- RAM: 32GB (4 x 8GB Kingston Fury Beast 2666Mhz DDR4)
- GPU: AMD RX 5600 XT
My primary interest is increasing calculation speeds for programming and math-related tasks. With RAM prices currently high, I'm trying to find solutions that won't require a major overhaul of my system. I've heard mixed reviews about Intel's ultra series and I would prefer not to switch out my motherboard and RAM, especially since I would likely need to for AMD as well. Are there any processors you'd recommend for a workstation setup without needing extensive upgrades?

Don’t discount Intel yet! The 250K and 270K Plus offer incredible value. Even though upgrading means dealing with some costs, it could be worthwhile for the performance gains.
You might want to check out the i7-13700F as well. Your MSI PRO B660M-A DDR4 supports 13th gen processors with the same LGA1700 socket. Just a quick BIOS update and you’re good to go!
Consider upgrading to the i7-12700F or even the i9 if you're really after that performance boost. Both options will give you a significant jump in processing speed, especially for your programming tasks.
