I'm looking to upgrade my PC's storage, and since my MSI B450 Tomahawk Max II motherboard only has one M.2 slot that's already occupied by a 250GB SSD (which holds just my OS), I'm considering adding a 1TB SATA SSD for games and other files. I know it's a tough time for purchases, but I've seen a lot of recommendations for Samsung Evo and Crucial SSDs. However, there are also some mixed reviews about them lately. Are these still good choices, or should I consider other options? Also, would it be worth going the adapter route instead? Thanks in advance for any tips!

If you have an open PCIe slot, consider getting an adapter for M.2. Just make sure it won't block airflow to your GPU. There are plenty of options available online that could work out well for you!
Honestly, when it comes to SATA drives, you can't really go wrong. While some brands stand out, I usually prioritize price. I also picked up a PNY 2TB model recently for about $140, and it's been working great. I'd suggest looking into TeamGroup as well—they've been pretty reliable for me!
I've had pretty good luck with TeamGroup drives—they’ve been solid performers for me. Might be worth looking into when you make your decision!
I went through a similar upgrade and found that it was actually a faulty SATA cable causing my problems. It was an easy fix and saved me from unnecessary upgrades! Just a thought if you're troubleshooting.
If you're looking for a solid deal, I found a 2TB PNY SATA SSD for around $134 at Walmart. It's a great upgrade if you can find it in stock. If you're nearby, definitely check it out!
Thanks for the tip! I'll definitely check my local Walmart.
I’ve been using various Samsung SSDs without any issues, and I hear mixed things about Crucial potentially exiting the market soon. But truthfully, the tech has advanced a lot, and many brands perform well these days, even some budget options. Just check reviews to ensure you're not getting something subpar!

That sounds amazing! I just looked it up and found that too. Good to know they're available online; the stock is so limited at most stores.
