I'm looking to upgrade my PC gradually and focus on maximizing my current setup for DCS, which is my main game. Here are my current specs: I have an i7-9700kf processor, a Z390 Phantom 4 motherboard, and an RTX 2080 Super GPU. Eventually, I plan to upgrade my GPU when budget allows, but for now, I want to know what CPU and motherboard upgrades would be best for enhancing performance, as I know my system is getting a bit outdated. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

I had a similar situation with my old 2080 FE and i7-8700k. I ended up rebuilding my entire setup except for the GPU, and it significantly improved my performance. I switched to a 7800x3d, which worked wonders. If you're considering a new CPU, the 9800 or 7800x3d are solid options and can be a great stopgap until you can afford a new GPU. Trust me, it can feel like getting a brand new graphics card!
Thanks! That’s exactly the route I was considering. Just worried since I'm new to PC building—do I need a new motherboard for those upgrades?
