Best Touch-Friendly Desktop Environments for Linux

Hey everyone, I'm new to the world of Linux and I recently got a 2-in-1 laptop that I mostly use in tablet mode. Currently, I'm using KDE Plasma on Opensuse Tumbleweed. I've tried both KDE Mobile and Gnome. KDE Mobile was somewhat usable but had issues like inconsistent right-click functionality and problems with essential apps like Kando and Flameshot. Additionally, I found the customization options lacking. On the other hand, Gnome seemed promising, but I wasn't a fan of its reliance on add-ons. Many essential ones are unmaintained, and updates often cause breakages. I also need a working 'color invert' feature, but the add-ons I found aren't functioning properly. So, I'm looking for suggestions on how to make Linux more touch-friendly. What desktop environment or window manager would you recommend for someone using their device primarily in touch mode?

Have you checked out PostmarketOS? It works with SXMO, which might be a good alternative for your needs. Although, I noticed it doesn’t offer a standalone version, so keep that in mind if you're hesitant to compile from source.

Thanks for the tip! But yeah, I'm a bit wary of compiling it myself.

While I prefer non-touch devices, I've heard that Gnome and Plasma are the top picks for touch support. If one doesn’t meet your needs, definitely give the other a shot!

There's a lot of misconceptions about Gnome, but a handy tip is that the Invert Window Color extension can work well if you disable the version-check validation. You can do that with this command: `gsettings set org.gnome.shell disable-extension-version-validation "true"`!

I appreciate that! I thought it was broken from my end. Any other suggestions you can share? Gnome just isn't working out for me.
