I'm looking to spend around $500 CAD (approximately $400 USD) to upgrade my current PC setup. Here's the rundown of my components: I have an AMD Ryzen 7 5700X 3D CPU that I bought last year, a B450 Tomahawk motherboard, a GTX 1080 GPU, 16GB of DDR4-3200 memory, and a 1TB M2 SSD. My power supply is a Corsair TX650M 650W. For monitors, my primary one is a Dell G3223Q 4K 144hz, and a secondary 27" 1440p 144hz monitor. The issue is that I'm struggling to achieve 60 FPS playing WoW at 1440p, and at 4K, it barely hits 25 FPS. With limited funds, I want to make the best upgrade choice to hit at least 120-140 FPS at 1440p. I've heard that my motherboard might not support some newer RTX graphics cards, so I'm here for advice on how to optimize my spending.

Consider upgrading to the 9060XT 16GB GPU. It should give you a significant performance boost, potentially doubling the power of your current GTX 1080 while also drawing less power. Just a note that your motherboard supports a variety of newer GPUs despite some misconceptions about compatibility. You should be good to go!
Yeah, plus with your 5700X3D, you likely won't need to upgrade the CPU or motherboard for a while.
Your motherboard does indeed have a PCIE x16 long slot, which can support all newer RTX GPUs. While it’s true that it might be PCIE 3 or 4 instead of the latest version, that isn’t really a bottleneck with modern GPUs. If you’re looking to upgrade your GPU, maybe start saving a bit more for a solid option down the road!
Thanks for the clarification! I’m more inclined to get a used but newer GPU if it makes sense.
That’s a smart move! Just ensure it's a decent upgrade without going too high on the price.
That sounds promising! I've heard this GPU is a solid choice without breaking the bank.
