Hey everyone! I'm looking to upgrade my brother's older PC so I can help him install Windows 11 and still have him able to play games decently. Currently, his specs are: CPU: AMD FX-6300, Motherboard: M5A78L-M Plus/US3 (with 24GB DDR3 RAM), and Graphics Card: Radeon RX550. I have a budget of up to €400. What would be the most cost-efficient upgrade options available?

To get the best bang for your buck, consider replacing the CPU, motherboard, and RAM. You could go for a Ryzen 5 7600 with 32GB of RAM and a B650 or B850 motherboard, all of which should fit within your budget. If you want to save some cash, you might find a secondhand Intel 12600K as a solid alternative. Just a heads up, although you can manage to install Windows 11 with your current setup using some tweaks, the FX-6300 won't handle newer games very well at all.

If you're set on keeping costs low, you could consider grabbing an AMD FX-8370, but just know that going for the 9370 or 9590 isn’t ideal, especially considering how outdated the AM3+ platform is. You'd be better off investing in a newer setup to future-proof your brother's gaming experience!
