Best Upgrade Options from Ryzen 5 5600 Without Going DDR5

I'm looking to upgrade my Ryzen 5 5600 but I want to avoid DDR5 due to its high prices right now. I'm considering what alternatives exist outside of the 5000 series X3D CPUs, as those are going for over $1000 CAD where I live. I'm feeling a bit stuck, so any recommendations would be really appreciated!

Honestly, there aren't many good alternatives apart from the X3D CPUs. Going for a 5800X isn't worth it since it's just a slight 5% performance increase. If you're already set on enhancing your setup, most budget CPUs won't give you that major boost you're looking for.

If you're considering AM5, it's going to cost you around 900 to 1000 CAD, but it might not be worthwhile to invest in a dying platform as you're aware. I suggest checking out this budget-friendly AM5 setup I found: [link]. If you're sticking with AM4, a Ryzen 7 5700X or 5800X could be your best bet, although they're not massive performance jumps. Alternatively, think about upgrading your GPU instead. That could make higher resolutions like 1440p or 4K more enjoyable, reducing the impact of sticking with your 5600. And remember, transitioning to Intel with your current RAM could also be a viable route!

If you can't snag a 5000 X3D chip, switching to an Intel 1700 could be your best move. The 14600K(F) really stands out for its performance while supporting both DDR4 and DDR5. Just ensure that you grab a DDR4 motherboard to go with it!

Funny enough, I stumbled upon a 5700X3D after posting this, but it's pricier than a 14600KF with a matching motherboard—about $100 CAD more. Do you think the 5700X3D is still the better option?

The only real upgrades around are the 5700X or 5800X, but keep in mind those will only provide marginal improvements. Maybe check out some comparisons on YouTube to really see the differences. Just curious, how much DDR4 RAM are you currently using?

You might eventually want to consider an Intel 14600K combo with a B760 DDR board. It's definitely a sweet spot if you're keen on retaining your DDR4 RAM.
