I'm experiencing some performance issues with my current setup, which consists of a Ryzen 7 5700x and a GTX 1080. I have an ROG STRIX X570-E WiFi II motherboard and I'm using a mini case. While I wouldn't mind upgrading the motherboard as well, ideally, I'd like to explore any CPU or GPU upgrades I can make without needing to replace it entirely. I'm located on the East Coast of the US and would prefer to keep the upgrade cost under $800 since I'm funding this with my summer job. My current PSU is a Cooler Master V850.

I suggest starting with the GPU. The Ryzen 7 5700x is still a solid CPU, so upgrading the GPU might do the trick. For under $800, you could consider the 5060 Ti 16GB (don't get the 8GB version). It offers a substantial performance boost compared to the GTX 1080. Just make sure your PSU is up to the task for whatever you choose!
If you want to stay safe with power, check if your PSU is rated at least 80+ Gold to handle the new GPU properly.
Going from your GTX 1080 to a 5060 Ti would be massive. You could also explore options for used cards, like the 3080 Ti or 4070 Super. Just make sure to verify the seller if you buy used!
Replace the GPU first; it’s usually the most impactful upgrade. You might also find some older high-end cards at a good price, just check the power requirements!
Honestly, the 5700X is still pretty decent for gaming unless you're aiming for competitive play at high FPS. Just focus on upgrading the GPU first.
True! Upping the GPU should give a noticeable improvement without needing an immediate CPU upgrade.
Thanks for the advice! By the way, my PSU is a Cooler Master V850, so should be good enough for most cards.
