I'm looking for advice on how to upgrade a budget PC that I built for my friend using leftover parts. I have about $150-$200 to work with. The current setup includes an AMD Phenom II X6 CPU, 8GB of RAM, and a 1TB hard drive, but he's not playing anything too intensive. I've suggested getting an SSD for the operating system and maybe a used GTX 1080 GPU. What do you all think? What upgrades would make the biggest difference?

If the budget is tight, maybe consider a used FX-8350 CPU too. It's cheap and can give great performance with that setup! But don't forget, the SSD is a must for a better overall experience. It's the first step to making that PC actually usable!
Definitely start with an SSD! It makes a world of difference in speed and responsiveness. After that, if he needs more graphical power, a decent GPU upgrade would be next on my list. Getting an SSD alone can really transform the experience from sluggish to snappy. Just remember, storage speed is a key factor in usability!
Absolutely! It's like the difference between watching paint dry and a thrilling movie. An SSD really changes the game.
Honestly, I'd focus on the GPU first if he's gaming at all. A GTX 1080 can be found for a good price, and it will greatly improve game performance. But yeah, no harm in adding an SSD either, since it speeds everything up. Just make sure the CPU can handle the GPU, as it can bottleneck performance!
Good point! I’ll have to check compatibility before recommending anything.

For sure! The FX-8350 might be a good pick, especially if he can overclock it. It's crazy how well those old CPUs can perform.
