Best Upgrades for a PC: 2070 Super and Ryzen 7 3800X

Hey everyone! I'm thinking about upgrading my son's gaming PC for Christmas. Currently, he's using my old setup from 2019, which includes a Ryzen 7 3800X, RTX 2070 Super, a Gigabyte X570 AORUS ELITE motherboard, 16GB of Corsair Vengeance RGB PRO DDR4 RAM, and an RM850 Gold PSU. Since I want to stick with the AM4 platform, I'm considering upgrading the GPU to either a 9060 XT 16GB or a 5060 Ti 16GB and possibly switching the CPU to a Ryzen 7 5800X. He mainly plays Fortnite, City Skylines, Roblox, and occasionally BF6. My budget for this upgrade is around 400-600 euros, with the 9060 XT priced between 375-400 euros, the 5060 Ti at about 437 euros, and the 5800X at 157 euros. What do you think?

I think you're on the right track with your upgrades! Opting for the 9060 XT 16GB paired with the 5800X would definitely give your son's PC a nice performance boost for the games he enjoys. That combination fits nicely within your budget too!

You're definitely looking at a great upgrade path! The 5800X is a fantastic choice overall, and as for the GPU, the 9060 XT 16GB offers great value for money—especially since it’ll keep up well for the next few years. Just keep an eye out for some secondhand deals!

The upgrades fit perfectly within your budget. There are still excellent CPU options for the AM4 sockets, and if you’re lucky, you might find a good deal on a secondhand CPU or GPU. I'd lean towards the 9060 XT 16GB—it seems to be the best bang for your buck right now!

If he's mainly gaming, consider the Ryzen 5 5600X; it might be a better deal if it's cheaper than the 5800X. The performance difference for gaming isn't huge, plus it would save you a bit more cash. However, if you can get a 5800X at a good price, go for it! Both GPUs are solid, but the 5060 Ti is a little faster overall.
