Hey folks! I'm looking to breathe some new life into my daughter's gaming PC because it's really outdated. I'm aiming to upgrade the motherboard, CPU, and RAM with the best used parts available for around $250 Canadian. She mainly plays Fortnite and The Sims 4, but she also wants to dive into Valorant and Dead by Daylight. Currently, she's using a GTX 1060 3GB. Any suggestions for the best value upgrades at this price range? Thanks in advance!

Can you share what CPU you currently have? Due to the RAM shortage, even DDR4 is priced high these days. Based on the CPU, sometimes just upgrading the GPU can make a world of difference without needing a full overhaul.

I've mentioned the current specs above, the CPU is an Intel Core i5 3570K.

Honestly, you might consider just selling the entire setup as-is. Use that cash to add to your budget and grab a more modern used system instead. It could save time and get better performance overall!

She really loves the case, and nothing is wrong with the SSD or PSU. I doubt anyone would want to spend on such an old motherboard and CPU combo.

Make sure to check out the overall specs of her current PC. If the GTX 1060 is part of an older system, knowing the CPU and motherboard specs could help decide if it's worth upgrading that combo or looking for a more complete solution.

Before you make a decision, it would help to know more about her current setup. Is her existing RAM DDR4? If so, you might be able to keep it by finding an older motherboard that supports it, which could still provide a nice performance boost.
