Hey everyone! I work in a job where we need to physically destroy end-of-life digital devices, and I'm currently facing a challenge with iPhones. The first step in our process is to safely remove the battery, but I'm finding it tricky to get it out without damaging it. I was thinking about submerging the phone in an isopropyl or acetone solution to loosen the adhesive, but I'm not sure if that's safe or effective. Does anyone have better suggestions or tips for efficiently removing the battery before destruction? Thanks a bunch!

Just a heads up, submerging in acetone or isopropyl could damage the components of the iPhone—especially the screen and logic board. Instead, you might want to use a plastic pry tool to gently lift the battery after softening the adhesive. Be careful with the tool though! It's all about patience with these things.
That job sounds intense! Typically, instead of drilling, it's safer to wipe the device clean first. But about that battery, it's true iPhone batteries use adhesive similar to command strips. You might want to try using a heat source like a heat gun or hairdryer on low to soften the glue first. That way, it should peel off easier without snapping!
Thanks for the tip! I have tried gently heating them before, but I might not be doing it long enough. I'll give it another shot. Appreciate your help!

Got it! I’ll stick to the pry tool method and work on being a bit more patient. Thanks for that advice!
