Broken Audio on Motherboard – Should I Get a Sound Card or DAC?

Hey everyone! I've been having issues with my motherboard's audio chipset on the GA-Z270-HD3P for about six months now. Whenever I plug something into the rear audio jacks, I just get this annoying static noise that I can't mute, and the same goes for the front headphone jack. The only reliable way I've found to get sound is by using the audio jack on one of my monitors, but the quality isn't great, and I'm limited in my options—like I can't listen to audio if the screen is off or easily switch between my PC and game console. I have a set of Logitech Z623 THX 2.1 speakers. I'm considering getting a sound card but I'm unsure about which one to choose without breaking the bank. Do you guys have any suggestions? Is there any chance the static noise issue can be resolved, or should I really invest in a sound card or maybe look into something like a Focusrite? Thanks a ton for your input!

It sounds like you definitely need a sound card, dude. Check out reviews on Amazon within your budget—they have a ton of options that could work for you!

I was thinking the same! But I'm just unsure if it’s really worth the price compared to just getting a DAC instead.
