I'm in the process of building a new PC using a Ryzen 7 9800X3D CPU alongside an RTX 5070 Ti GPU. Since I'm new to PC building, I'm looking for recommendations from others who might have this combo. Ideally, I want a setup that can handle 1440p gaming, multitask well (like gaming while watching YouTube), and be somewhat future-proof. My budget is around $3,000, give or take. Here's how my build looks so far:
- **CPU:** AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D
- **Motherboard:** MSI MAG X870 TOMAHAWK WIFI AM5
- **RAM:** G.SKILL Flare X5 32GB (2 x 16GB) DDR5 6000
- **GPU:** GIGABYTE Gaming GeForce RTX 5070 Ti 16GB GDDR7
- **Case:** Fractal Design Pop XL Air RGB
- **PSU:** CORSAIR RM1000x 1000W Fully Modular
- **SSD:** SAMSUNG 990 PRO 2TB
- **Cooling:** be quiet! Dark Rock Pro 5.
I would love to hear any suggestions or experiences you have with this setup!

Your case choice is decent, but it's a bit dated. You might want to look at newer options like the Lian Li Lancool 217 or the Corsair 4000D. While the case is important, the mid-tower and full tower should both work fine for your build requirements.
If you're ordering online and don’t have access to a Microcenter, I found a good bundle on Newegg that comes with a Ryzen 7 9850X3D and other compatible components. You might want to check out the prices on RAM since 64GB should be attainable in this budget. Here’s a part list I created for an optimized setup that stays under $2900.
Thanks for that! I'll check out your part list, especially if it reduces costs a bit.
I have a similar setup but with a Ryzen 9 9950X and 64GB DDR5 RAM. I game at 1440p and also handle production work, and my 850W PSU runs everything smoothly even under load. You could probably stick with an 850W if you're not planning to overclock your components. If you're curious about cooling, the air cooling you have should be fine!
That's reassuring! So the air cooling is sufficient? And what do you think about my motherboard and RAM choices for 1440p gaming?
I recently set up a PC with the 5070 Ti and it runs every game at max settings flawlessly at 1440p. You’re all set with your build! If you're budget-conscious, consider a B850 motherboard instead of the X870. Also, air cooling works perfectly; I'm using a Phantom Spirit 120SE and I undervolted my CPU for better efficiency.
This build sounds awesome! Just a tip: even if you’re not planning to overclock, an AIO cooler can give you a much cleaner setup and better performance down the line!

Thanks for the heads-up! Do you have a preference between mid-tower and full tower?
