I'm moving to Thailand soon and I've noticed that tech prices there are way cheaper than in Europe. I'm planning to buy the iPhone 17 Pro when I arrive, but are there any potential downsides to this plan? After Thailand, I'll mostly be living in Europe for a few years. Also, I'm looking to grab a MacBook in Japan since the prices are even lower over there. I know I'll need to arrange a QWERTY keyboard in advance through a friend. Is there anything else I need to keep in mind when purchasing tech in these countries?

In Japan, prices are definitely lower, and you can actually get a 10% tax refund if you bring your passport to the store when you buy. Plus, the staff at Apple stores usually speak English and are super helpful. I've bought an iPhone and an Apple Watch there, and everything's been normal for me since I live in Europe now. No issues at all!
I've bought tech in both Tokyo and Bangkok, and everything went smoothly. For instance, when I picked up the iPhone 7+ in Tokyo, they mentioned it would always make the camera shutter sound, but that wasn’t true. So don’t stress too much, it’ll go fine!
Buying tech in Asia is pretty much like anywhere else. Just make sure to process your VAT refund to really save money! It involves two steps—one before you go through passport control and then another after. Make sure you don't skip the first one, or they won't help you after. They don’t really make it clear at airports, so be prepared!
That camera shutter thing is a bit creepy though, right? I guess it's a regional law or something?
