Can a 3-pin plug be a security risk for data transfer?

I recently used a 3-pin plug at a library to charge my phone, and it got me thinking about whether using this type of plug poses any risks for data transfer or hacking. I specifically have an Apple 3-pin power adapter connected to a USB to USB-C adapter and then using a USB-C cable to charge my phone. I asked ChatGPT about this, and it mentioned that a 3-pin plug only transfers power. Is that true? I'm concerned I might be overreacting, especially with technology constantly evolving. I appreciate any insights or precautions I should be aware of!

It’s funny you mention that because it is possible to transmit data over powerlines, but not in your case! You're completely safe with your setup. Special adapters exist that can send and receive data through powerlines, but they require specific equipment to do so. Your phone's USB adapter doesn't have that capability, so you're all good!

Wait, when you mention a USB adapter, are you talking about the one you use for your phone? Is it the 3-pin plug that stops any data transfer in your setup?
