I've been using my Fire TV for about four years, and honestly, I can't stand it. It's been buffering a lot lately, and shows just won't play on any streaming service. I have two other TVs at home that work perfectly, so I tried plugging in an old Roku to the Fire TV, hoping it would be a good solution. However, the Roku worked sporadically and kept crashing, especially on Prime Video. Recently, I switched to an old "dumb" 720p TV, which has been streaming perfectly with the same Roku for hours. My main question is whether the Fire TV could be causing connectivity issues with the Roku, or am I just going crazy? I can't help but wonder if my Fire TV is messing with the Roku's performance somehow.

If your HDMI cable is old, that could also be the issue. Defective cables can cause connection problems. It might be worth trying a new one just to rule it out!
It sounds like your Fire TV might just be failing rather than interfering with the Roku. If it’s acting up, it can definitely affect any device connected to it. But it’s not like the Fire TV has a way to directly block the Roku; it’s just not handling things well anymore.
Make sure to check for firmware updates on both the Fire TV and the Roku. Clearing the WiFi connections and reconnecting them might help too. Also, remember that heat around your devices can affect performance, so keep them well-ventilated.
Buffering issues usually stem from WiFi problems. Check the placement of your equipment and the WiFi signal quality. Sometimes, switching to a different frequency or moving the devices closer to the router helps. Also, streaming on a lower-res TV like your 720p could ease the load, which may explain why it works better.
Totally agree! Sometimes your main device can create too much traffic on the network, especially if it's malfunctioning. Running a speed test might shed some light on the network performance.

Good point! Also, if you can, try using a different HDMI port on your TV or a switch, sometimes that can clear weird issues.
