My cousin has a motherboard that got damaged due to mouse urine. The little critter managed to chew through the back of his case, and he only realized there was an issue when his PC wouldn't turn on. There were already signs of corrosion present after it sat unused for a few years. He is wondering if there's any chance of fixing it, considering the affected area is mainly the top part of the board. The model is ASUS Rog Strix Z690-A Gaming WiFi D4.

Honestly, if it’s really been damaged by urine, it might be time to just get a new motherboard. Urine is a weak acid and it can really eat away at the PCB and circuitry over time.

Yeah, he’s already got a new one, but if there’s a way to fix this old one, he’d consider giving it away!

Here are some before and after pics for reference! It’s always good to see examples before diving in to fix something.

It doesn’t look too terrible! I’d suggest removing the covers and cleaning up the circuit board with some Q-tips (or a small toothbrush if the corrosion is stubborn) and some isopropyl alcohol. It might be a bit tedious, but it’s definitely worth a shot. You could get it working again!

Are you sure just the isopropyl alcohol will do? I think it’s probably out of warranty, so that might be a concern. The main damaged area is that top part. It’s good to hear the other components are fine, though!
