Can a Power Outage Damage My Ethernet Port?

I recently experienced a power outage due to some bad weather, and after the power came back on, my internet wasn't working properly. While Wi-Fi connected, it had no internet access. The general Wi-Fi from my apartment complex worked fine though. After trying a few resets on my Nighthawk router, I moved it to my roommate's room, and it worked instantly there. I'm wondering if the power outage could have damaged the ethernet port in my room?

It's more likely that the issue lies with the switch at the other end of your connection rather than the ethernet port itself since Ethernet uses low voltage. You should check that out instead.

Are you talking about the port on the router? It shouldn't be damaged, especially since the router works fine when connected in your roommate’s room.
