Can a WiFi-Connected TV Box Compromise a Non-WiFi Smart TV Through HDMI?

I've got a TV box that connects to WiFi and it's plugged into my smart TV using HDMI. However, my smart TV itself doesn't use WiFi. I'm wondering if the TV box could potentially infect or compromise the smart TV despite this setup. I realize this might sound a bit paranoid, but I'm just trying to understand the risks. Any insights would be greatly appreciated!

To be honest, it’s unlikely that an infected TV box could compromise a non-WiFi smart TV through HDMI. HDMI primarily transmits audio and video signals, and it doesn’t send data that could lead to infections. So, your smart TV should be safe from the TV box, even if the box is compromised. If you're still unsure, it might help to scan the box for malware.

Thanks for clarifying! That really eases my mind a bit.

The first thing to consider is how you know your TV box is 'infected.' If it’s just a hunch, you might be overthinking it. But like someone mentioned, since HDMI doesn't transmit data that could harm the TV, you should be pretty safe. Just keep an eye on things to be sure!

I guess I’m just a bit too paranoid about these things! Appreciate your response!
