Can AI Help Build a Full-Scale Operating System?

I recently chatted with Claude about whether it would take on a major project, like creating a full-scale operating system similar to MacOS or Windows. Claude mentioned that the size or complexity of the project wouldn't be a deterrent. Instead, it would break it down into manageable parts, starting with the core architecture and gradually building up. Claude can handle coding across different languages, design system architectures, conduct research, and optimize performance. However, the actual running, testing, and hardware interfacing would still be on the user. What's interesting is that Claude seems open to ambitious projects like this, as long as there's a solid plan to guide the development. What kind of project are you thinking about tackling?

The balls in this guy. Haha, yeah, tackling this with an AI assistant could be wild! Just make sure you have a clear plan to navigate through the complexities!

I think it’s great that Claude is up for taking on big projects! But keep in mind, it can't compile or test code in real environments, which is a pretty significant limitation. You still need to handle the nitty-gritty like hardware interfacing and all that low-level stuff. Just make sure you’re ready for it if you go this route!

Totally agree! It's a solid starting point, but the real work will still be on you. Just keep the planning tight.

Team Claude Code for anything remotely complex. It can definitely help with the heavy lifting on code but remember, you're still in the driver's seat!
