Hey everyone! I recently picked up the Samsung 57 Odyssey Neo G9 monitor, and it works perfectly with one of my laptops via HDMI. However, my second laptop is struggling because it can't handle the monitor's native resolution of 7680 x 2160. I've noticed some 8K docking stations from companies like Anker on Amazon, and I'm willing to invest in one if it will solve my issue. My main concern is whether the built-in graphics card on my laptop will still limit the output resolution when I connect it through a USB-C docking station. If it won't limit me, then great! If it will, I may have to look for a new laptop. Thanks for your help!

To give proper advice, I'd need a few more details about your second laptop. What model are you using, and what are its specs, especially regarding the GPU? That info will help us determine if the docking station could work as a solution or if you'll still hit that resolution wall.
I checked out the ThinkPad L14 Gen 5, and I've seen that its HDMI port maxes out at 4K, which is a limitation. Using an 8K docking station could be a good workaround since it connects via USB-C and might bypass that HDMI restriction. Just make sure that the docking station supports the full 8K output and your laptop’s USB-C port is compatible.
