I'm thinking about making the switch from being a backend developer to getting into DevOps. Do you think companies will start hiring engineers who can handle both development and DevOps tasks, eliminating the need for a separate DevOps engineer in the future? Given how AI is boosting productivity for developers lately, it seems like there's potential for this to be a viable option.

Absolutely, especially in smaller teams or startups. A lot of places are adopting that model where developers are also responsible for deploying their code, which makes sense for efficiency.
It's definitely a possibility, but it really depends on the company. Some still prefer having dedicated DevOps roles to handle the complexities involved. You'll find that many developers are great at writing code, but there’s a learning curve when it comes to the operational side of things.
What do you think are the key skills a developer should focus on to make this switch easier?
