Can I Boot Linux from a PCIe M.2 NVMe Drive Adapter?

Hey everyone! I've got a computer with two M.2 slots. One is running Windows as my boot drive, and the other is a larger drive for games. I'm considering getting one of those PCIe cards that allows adding a third M.2 drive. My question is, can I install Linux on that drive and boot from it? Is there anything I need to be aware of?

Yes, you can absolutely do that! However, I suggest putting your storage drive on the PCIe card instead of the boot drive. It can free up your M.2 slots for the OS and keep performance optimal.

Why do you recommend using the PCIe card for storage? Do you think speed is a big deal for running Linux if I'm mainly just doing coding for class? I have spare SATA ports too, but I assume using a 2.5" SSD would be slower than NVMe?
