I'm trying to boot Linux Mint on my MacBook Air, and I formatted it using Etcher to write the ISO file to a USB stick. However, I received a message saying that the disk isn't readable by my computer. Does this mean I can't boot from it? What can I do to resolve this issue? I've also tried using the disk utility app to perform first aid and erase the USB, but it hasn't worked. I attempted to hold down option and cmd + R during restart to boot from the USB, but it didn't help. Am I missing something?

It sounds like you're using a newer MacBook Air with an M4 chip. Just so you know, since 2020, Apple has switched to their own CPUs which often don't work with the standard Linux distributions. You might need to check if there's a specific version of Linux that supports your hardware.

Yeah, you might be out of luck for now. I heard they recently got some basic support but it’s still pretty limited with M3 and M4 chips.
