Can I Build a Gaming PC for My Nephew Under $750?

I'm looking to build a budget gaming PC for my nephew, but his budget is only $750 CAD. He wants to play games like Minecraft and GTA, and has a 1080p monitor. I know he would prefer all new parts. I was considering going for an APU with the option to upgrade with a dedicated GPU later on. Here's a build I was considering, but it totals over the budget: [PCPartPicker Link]. Any tips or suggestions for how I might stay within his budget?

You might want to consider buying used parts. There are lots of budget-friendly AM4 CPUs and DDR4 RAM options that can save you some cash. You can build a solid setup with something like a Ryzen 5 5600X or even a 3060 GPU if you keep an eye out for deals!

Totally agree! I built a rig with a 5600X and an RTX 3060 for around $750 during Amazon Prime Day. Just gotta hunt for the right deals.

Get your nephew to save a bit more if he insists on new parts. With a tighter budget, it's tough. Most new GPUs alone cost well over $400, and you're going to struggle to get quality parts without stretching the budget. Exploring prebuilt options might also be worthwhile if he's flexible. Here's a few examples from Canada Computers that might be close to budget: [Link].

If you can find a good bundle near you, check out this listing: [Canada Computers Link]. They've got some decent deals on new CPUs and motherboards that fit into your budget.

Good find! Just make sure to look at the specs carefully to ensure it's the right fit for gaming.

I picked up a solid setup with a Ryzen 5 5600 for about 270 euros. If you sell the included graphics card and invest in something better, you'll be set for a while. Just focus on getting upgradable parts!

That’s great! I’m all for getting something used with upgrade potential. Just need to make sure it meets his gaming needs!

You're probably looking at used parts for modern GPUs, unfortunately. Check Facebook Marketplace; you might find some solid deals. I've seen people score nice rigs for cheap if they look for a few weeks!

Nice, that’s a solid suggestion! Found my AM5 PC with a monitor on Facebook for just $615!

Honestly, that case and motherboard are way pricier than they need to be for this build. You could save money there and still get a nice CPU and GPU if you go with more affordable options. DDR4 RAM is also super cheap right now!

Right? You could slap this build together in a shoebox for under budget and just worry about performance!
