I'm completely new to building PCs and recently tried to buy one from Amazon specifically to play Project Zomboid. After posting about it in another forum, I got feedback that the PC I ordered was poorly suited for gaming, so I canceled the purchase. My main question is, am I able to build a PC that can run Project Zomboid well with a budget of $400?

With a $400 budget, you're mostly looking at used parts. Honestly, it might be smarter to seek out a used PC from a marketplace instead of building one. You'll get better performance for your money that way.
I keep coming across that advice! A friend of my girlfriend's made me a custom parts list which came to over $700, but I just can't swing that right now. I appreciate your insights, I'm definitely going to check out the marketplace!
